Children blame tractor trailer operators for parents' deaths

Car accident 02

NEW ORLEANS — Five surviving children are suing operators of a tractor trailer, alleging negligence caused their parents' deaths.

George Pat Wells, Jr., Donna Loga, Linda W. Greffer, Mark Wells and Pamela Cloutre filed a lawsuit April 28 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Bruno Palacios of Richardson, Texas, and Landon Transport Logistics LLC, alleging negligence to keep a tractor trailer under proper and/or adequate control.

According to the complaint, on June 14, 2015, George P. Wells and Jean G. Wells were operating their 2013 Toyota Corolla on Interstate Highway 10 eastbound in the St. Tammany Parish when, without warning, their vehicle was rear-ended by a 2015 Freightliner Cascadia tractor trailer, operated and owned by Landon Transport and driven by Palacios.

As a result of the collision, George and Jean Wells were significantly injured and eventually died. The plaintiffs allege Palacios failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield to the right-of-way, failed to slow down and followed too closely.

The plaintiffs seek a trial by jury, judgment against defendants for a reasonable sum, interest, all legal costs and all general and/or equitable relief. They are represented by attorneys Russ M. Herman and Brian D. Katz of Herman Herman & Katz LLC in New Orleans.
