LAFAYETTE — A product manager has filed suit against his former employer for alleged disability discrimination.
Michael Johnson filed a complaint July 8 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Lafayette Division, against Setpoint Integrated Solutions Inc. alleging that the former employer violated the Louisiana Employment Discrimination Law.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he was subjected to discrimination due to his perceived or actual disability, a brain tumor, and retaliation for attempting to exercise his rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act. He was terminated on April 1, 2014. The plaintiff holds Setpoint Integrated Solutions Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to consider or provide reasonable accommodations for his limitations, terminated his employment and refused to pay certain quarterly bonuses owed to him.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for compensatory and punitive damages, costs of these proceedings, attorney’s fees, all necessary orders and decrees as may be required or proper on the premises. He is represented by Jeremy A. Hebert and Michael D. Hebert of Becker and Hebert LLC in Lafayette.
