NEW ORLEANS — A Plaquemines Parish fishing lodge business is suing a cabin manufacturer and an insurance provider, alleging they misrepresented and concealed defective manufacturing activities.
Fin & Feather Cabins LLC, formerly known as Fin & Feather Chalets LLC, filed a lawsuit July 16 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Discount Sales Inc. and Mesa Underwriters Specialty Insurance Company, alleging breach of contract.
According to the complaint, on Aug. 28, 2012, Fin & Feather sustained significant property damage to its cabins caused by Hurricane Isaac and also experienced.loss of business income.
The plaintiff alleges Discount Sales had ordered the two cabins from Southern Homes without metal roofs or cedar siding and misrepresented that there was a delay in receiving the cabins when Discount Sales itself had negligently manufactured the metal roofs or cedar siding of the two cabins.
Fin & Feather Cabins seeks a trial by jury, damages of $200,000, costs of suit, pre- and post-judgment judicial interest, attorney fees and any other relief deemed proper. to. It is represented by attorney Richard L. Root of the Law Office of John W. Redmann in Gretna.
