NEW ORLEANS – A Washington Parish woman alleges a property owner of a Slidell restaurant has not brought the property in compliance with building regulations to allow access to the disabled.

Lynette Bech filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Charlette C. Bradley alleging that the property operator failed to uphold Americans with Disabilities Act regulations.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she is presently aware of mobility-related barriers at defendant's property, which is leased by Tacos & Beer, and that she would experience serious difficulty accessing the goods and utilizing the services offered therein due to the architectural barriers. The plaintiff holds Bradley responsible because the defendant's property allegedly has a set of two steps up into the main entrance of the property without the required access ramp and that the defendant has failed to provide a wheelchair-accessible entrance and failed to remove the barriers restricting access.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks declaration that defendant's property is in violation of the ADA, an order directing defendant to alter the property to make it accessible to and useable by individuals with mobility disabilities, attorneys’ fees, costs and expenses and such other relief as it deems necessary, just and proper. She is represented by Andrew D. Bizer, Garret S. DeReus and Marc P. Florman of The Bizer Law Firm in New Orleans.
