LAKE CHARLES — A group of Louisiana employees is suing Wal-Mart, alleging the defendant wrongfully terminated their employment.

Jennifer Cormier, Phyllis Hazel, Rosetta King, Pamela Henderson-McWain, Eula Webb Willis and Wilson Goodley filed a lawsuit June 23 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana Lake Charles Division against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. alleging discrimination.

According to the complaint, the six plaintiffs, with more than 100 years of combined work experience for Wal-Mart, were subjected to adverse employment practices at a Lake Charles Wal-Mart and were terminated due to their age and/or race. The suit says they sustained lost wages and/or loss of earning capacity, emotional pain and suffering, mental anguish, inconvenience, retirement benefits, and loss of enjoyment of life.

The plaintiffs allege Wal-Mart treated them differently than similarly situated employees, applied its company policies and procedures arbitrarily and falsified employment records.

The plaintiffs seek trial by jury, reinstatement to their positions, actual and punitive damages, legal costs, attorney fees and all other relief the court deems just and proper. They are represented by attorney Jill Swearingen Pierce of Bradley, Steele & Pierce LLP in Port Arthur, Texas.
