ALEXANDRIA – A Caddo Parish man alleges a Shreve City Shopping Center restaurant is not compliant with accessibility regulations for the disabled.

James Bledsoe filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana against Shreve City Delaware 12 LLC and Ricochet Rider Inc., doing business as What's On Tap, alleging violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during his visit to defendants' property on Aug. 25, he experienced serious difficulty accessing the goods and utilizing the services offered therein due to the architectural barriers. The plaintiff holds Shreve City Delaware 12 LLC and Ricochet Rider Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide accessible designated parking spaces and the required vertical signage, failed to provide a restroom which is accessible from the outside of the property and failed to adopt any alternatives to barrier removal.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order directing defendants to alter the property to make it accessible to and useable by individuals with mobility disabilities, attorneys’ fees, costs and other expenses and such other relief as it deems necessary. He is represented by Andrew D. Bizer, Garret S. DeReus and Marc P. Florman of The Bizer Law Firm in New Orleans.
