BATON ROUGE – An East Baton Rouge consumer a debt collector filed a lawsuit against her without basis.
Jennifer Finley, also known as Jennifer Wysocki, filed a complaint on Sept. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against Portfolio Recovery Associates LLC alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that as a result of defendant's meritless collection lawsuit filed in 2014, she suffered anxiety, humiliation, embarrassment and emotional distress and incurred legal fees and expenses. The plaintiff holds Portfolio Recovery Associates LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly engaged in abusive, deceptive and unfair collection practices and filed a collection lawsuit against her without basis.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages, attorneys' fees, costs, expenses and such other relief as the court deems appropriate. She is represented by J. David Andress and Stephen R. Pokorski of Andress Law Firm LLC in Baton Rouge.
