LAFAYETTE – The owner of two vessels alleges a company failed to repair the ships as contracted.
Tampa Shipholdings LLC filed a complaint on Oct. 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Lafayette Division against Seacraft Shipyard LLC, vessel Dylan J and vessel Miss Natalie alleging breach of contract and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages in the total amount of $1,464,425.68 for the repair the two vessels. The plaintiff holds Seacraft Shipyard LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly wrongfully detained plaintiff's vessels, failed to repair the vessels in a good and workmanlike manner and failed to perform all of the contracted repairs that plaintiff has paid for.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order to allow the arrest and/or seizure of the Dylan J and Miss Natalie, a joint inspection on the vessels at defendant's shipyard, transferring custody of the vessels to plaintiff, requiring defendant to produce an accounting for the work it allegedly performed, award for litigation costs and all other relief that is proper. It is represented by Stephen Hanemann, Tod J. Everage, McClains Schonekas and R. Chauvin Kean of Kean Miller LLP in New Orleans.
