NEW ORLEANS – A seaman claims he was injured while working on the Deepwater Invictus.

Christopher Rodriguez filed a complaint on Oct. 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Transocean Offshore Deepwater Drilling Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 19, 2016, he sustained serious injuries to his knee while working. As a result, he alleges he suffered physical, mental and emotional pain, disability, loss of earning capacity and medical expenses. The plaintiff holds Transocean Offshore Deepwater Drilling Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide a safe place to work, failed to properly train and supervise its employees and failed to provide adequate equipment for the job.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages, plus interest, all costs for this action, expert fees, for past, present and future adequate maintenance and cure benefits and for all other equitable relief. He is represented by Timothy J. Young, Tammy D. Harris, Megan C. Misko and Daniel J. Poolson Jr. of The Young Firm in New Orleans.
