Platform worker alleges he was injured after falling into basket

Oilrig 04

LAFAYETTE – An Iberia Parish man claims he was injured because of unsafe working conditions on a production platform.

Leroy J. Blaze Jr. filed a complaint on Nov. 4 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Lafayette Division against McMoRan Oil & Gas LLC, Fieldwood Energy LLC, Eagle Consulting LLC, Total Safety U.S. Inc., Swivel Rental & Supply LLC and Eaton Oil Tools Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 13, 2015, he fell inside a work basket while performing his duties with a co-worker, causing him to sustain serious injuries. The plaintiff holds McMoRan Oil & Gas LLC, Fieldwood Energy LLC, Eagle Consulting LLC, Total Safety U.S. Inc., Swivel Rental & Supply LLC and Eaton Oil Tools Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide a safe place to work, failed to properly train and supervise their employees and work methods and failed to provide equipment that was fit and safe for the job.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, jointly, severally, and in solido, in an amount that will adequately compensate him for all his damages sustained, plus interest, costs for the action and all other just and equitable relief. He is represented by Richard R. Kennedy and Richard R. Kennedy III of Richard R. Kennedy APLC in Lafayette.
