NEW ORLEANS – A woman alleges the 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion damaged her commercial fishing business.

Darlene Jacobi, individually and as succession representative of Charles A. Jacobi, filed a complaint on Dec. 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against the Transocean LTD and BP PLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she and her late husband operated a commercial fishing business in Grand Isle. She alleges their operations were disrupted, the property was damaged and they were sickened by the pollution of the explosion, fire and oil spill that originated from the defendants' operations on April 20, 2010.

The plaintiff holds Transocean LTD and BP PLC responsible because they allege that as a result of defendants' negligence, she suffered complete loss of income, property damage and the death of Charles Jacobi on June 21, 2013.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in an amount that will sufficiently and adequately compensate her for her damages, together with interest and costs for the action. She is represented by Robert N. Clarke of Metairie.
