Ship Tech Services claims Ceres Tank Barge owes more than $220,000 for barge cleanings

Late 03

NEW ORLEANS – A barge cleaning company in Algiers alleges it was not paid for services it performed on two barges.

Ship Tech Services LLC filed a complaint on Dec. 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Barge BIG 950 L and Barge BIG 951 L and Ceres Tank Barge LLC alleging open account.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between August 2016 and September 2016, plaintiff provided barge cleaning and vac-truck services on open account to defendants. As of the filing of this complaint, the remaining amount of $220,325.94 allegedly remains due and unpaid. The plaintiff holds Barge BIG 950 L and Barge BIG 951 L and Ceres Tank Barge LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay the remaining amount balance.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks warrant for the maritime arrest of Barge BIG 950 L and Barge BIG 951 L, that the barges be condemned and sold in favor of plaintiff, award for damages in the amount of $220,325.94, plus interest, costs and attorneys’ fees and all further relief as the law may require. It is represented by John H. Musser and Michael D. Letourneau of Murphy, Rogers, Sloss, Gambel & Tompkins in New Orleans.
