NEW ORLEANS – A St. Tammany Parish contractor alleges it is owed more than $2 million for construction at a college in the parish.

NorthStar Demolition and Remediation LP filed a complaint on Jan. 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary College alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 15, 2016, plaintiff satisfactorily completed its work on the project and/or under the contract without delay for the defendant. To date, the balance amount of $2,405,358.49 allegedly remains due and owing.

The plaintiff holds Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary College responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to make payments for the sums owed pursuant to the contract.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for the full amount of $2,405,358.49 plus interest, costs, and attorneys’ fees, for the enforcement of the statements of claim by seizing and selling defendant's property and for the payment of $1,583,796.86 (included in the $2,405,358.49) and all other equitable relief to which it may be entitled. It is represented by Jay H. Kern, Douglass F. Wynne Jr. and Kaile L. Mercuri of Simon, Peragine, Smith & Redfearn LLP in New Orleans.
