BATON ROUGE – An African-American female formerly employed as a server with a Baton Rouge casino alleges she faced unlawful employment practices and disparate treatment.

Charlene Rosette filed a complaint on Jan. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against Pinnacle Entertainment Inc., doing business as L'Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge, alleging that it violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in Aug. 28, 2015, she was terminated from her employment with the defendants, just three days after she was suspended after being accused of stealing $3 from a cashier, which she claims she did not do. The plaintiff holds Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly treated her less fairly than others and subjected her to adverse employment actions. She alleges in the complaint she reported unfair treatment to human resources several times, and that she had filed two complaints with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, attorney's fees and all other relief appropriate in this case. She is represented by James E. Sudduth III of Sudduth & Associates LLC in Lake Charles.
