NEW ORLEANS – An African-American alleges he was subjected to a hostile work environment during his employment with a Harvey business.

Marcus U. Bunch filed a complaint on Jan. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Wilco Marsh Buggies & Draglines Inc. alleging that the former employer violated the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and Louisiana Employment Discrimination Law.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 25, 2016, he was terminated from his environment after complaining of sexual harassment. The suit states he was contacted by the defendant's owner the same day and offered his job back with a pay increase, but alleges that he was subjected to racial discrimination during his continued employment. As a result, he alleges he has suffered mental and emotional pain, embarrassment, humiliation and lost wages and benefits. The suit states he was terminated again two months later.

The plaintiff holds Wilco Marsh Buggies & Draglines Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly subjected him to discrimination and hostile work environment, retaliated against him and unlawfully terminated his employment for having complained about such discrimination.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for all damages, attorney’s fees, plus all costs of these proceedings, witness fees and penalties, legal interest and for all general and equitable relief. He is represented by Mike Harris and Rebekah Capers of Harris Law Firm in Gretna.
