Vigiliant Insurance claims DuraPro connector caused water damage to home

NEW ORLEANS – An insurance company is seeking damages after a home was allegedly damaged by the failure of a plumbing fixture.

Vigilant Insurance Co., as subrogee of Dr. Manjit Wadha, filed a complaint on Jan. 20, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Interline Brands Inc., MTD (USA) Corp. and Zhejiang Dingbo Plumbing Manufacturing Co. LTD, alleging that they failed to comply with the Louisiana Products Liability Act.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 24, 2016, Wadha's Laplace home suffered property damages that resulted from a broken DuraPro connector that was connected to a toilet located at the second floor of his home. The plaintiffs holds Interline Brands Inc., MTD (USA) Corp. and Zhejiang Dingbo Plumbing Manufacturing Co. LTD responsible because defendants allegedly defectively designed, manufactured, imported and sold the connector.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants for all damages, plus interest, court costs and such other just and equitable relief. It is represented by Jake Skaggs of Cozen O'Connor in Houston.
