SHREVEPORT – An African-American accounting specialist for a Shreveport business claims he was retaliated against because of his race.

Eddy L. Hamilton filed a complaint on Jan. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana against Storer Equipment Co. LTD alleging that the former employer violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, a supervisor regularly yelled at the plaintiff and denigrated his race, which the plaintiff reported. The plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 4, 2014, he was discharged from his employment because he allegedly made too many mistakes and was the weakest employee on staff. The plaintiff holds Storer Equipment Co. LTD responsible because the defendant allegedly unlawfully discriminated against him because of his race and age and in retaliation for his complaints of the illegal acts of its employee.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks mandatory injunction enjoining defendant from engaging in unlawful employment practices; award for compensatory, punitive and consequential damages; attorney fees and all other relief as the court deems necessary or proper. He is represented by Dianne Hill of Dianne L. Hill Attorney at Law in Monroe.
