Kenner man accused of injuring Florida man after hitting him with golf cart

NEW ORLEANS – A Florida couple claims a Kenner man struck the husband with a golf cart at Chateau Country Club, injuring him.

Barbara and William E. James III filed a complaint on Jan. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Underwriters at Lloyds London and Stephen W. Gilbert

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Feb. 5, 2016, Gilbert was operating a golf cart when he struck and rolled over plaintiff William James, dragging him several feet. Plaintiff William James alleges he sustained injuries and damages and plaintiff Barbara James claims she suffered a loss of consortium, service and society of her husband. The plaintiffs hold Underwriters at Lloyds London and Gilbert responsible because Gilbert allegedly failed to keep careful lookout and failed to maintain proper control of the golf cart.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendants, jointly, severally and in solido, in a sum to be determined by jury, plus interest, costs of this suit and all other legal and equitable relief. They are represented by Leonard J. Cline of Cline Law Office in Metairie.
