Mississippi patient alleges doctor did not properly place catheter

Medical malpractice 02

NEW ORLEANS – Two Gulfport, Mississippi individuals are accusing two physicians and health care facilities of failing to provide proper care.

Chase Poirrier and Lisa Huber filed a complaint on Feb. 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Donald E. Richardson MD, Melanie P. Mire PA-C and Southern Pain and Neurological Consultants LLC, doing business as Southern Pain and Neurological Consultants LLC alleging deviation from the standards of care.

According to the complaint, Chase Poirrer has a history of traumatic brain injury as a result of a motorbike accident that happened in 2004. The suit states that in 2008, Richardson inserted a SynroMed pump and catheter and a revision procedure was done in 2009, and that in 2015, a neurosurgeon discovered the catheter was not in place.

The plaintiffs holds Donald E. Richardson MD, Melanie P. Mire PA-C and Southern Pain and Neurological Consultants LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to perform proper work-up to determine proper catheter placement, failed to order an X-rays and/or dye studies and failed to diagnose the dislodged catheter.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendants for damages as reasonable in the premises, plus interest, cost of these proceedings and expert fees. They are represented by David A. Bowling of The Bowling Law Firm APLC in New Orleans.
