Couple claims hotel floor unsafe after wife slips and suffers injuries

Slip01

NEW ORLEANS — A Jefferson Parish couple is suing The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. LLC and Marriott International Inc., citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries after a slip and fall.

Gail and Allen Guidry filed a complaint on March 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against the defendants alleging that they failed to provide a safe environment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on Dec. 17, 2016, plaintiff Gail Guidry was walking down the hallway at defendants' hotel when she slipped on a puddle of water and fell on the floor. She claims she suffered serious injuries to her neck, back and leg. Plaintiff Allen Guidry has been and will be deprived of the comfort, aid, services, assistance and enjoyment of his wife. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to exercise reasonable care to inspect the ceilings and hallways, including where the leaking pipe occurred.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in the amount of $3,000,000, costs of court and interest. She is represented by George W. Healy IV of George W. Healy IV & Associates in Gulfport, Mississippi.
