NEW ORLEANS – A Lafayette seaman alleges he was injured when the vessel he was traveling on struck a submerged island.

Kenneth Noel filed a complaint on March 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Inland Dredging Co. LLC and Hunter Marine Group LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 16, 2016, he was injured when the crew boat he was riding on, defendants' M/V Miss Mona, struck a submerged island. He alleges he sustained severe injuries to his lumbar and cervical discs, bones, muscles and joints and will suffer medical expenses, loss of earning capacity, pain and suffering and loss of household services.

The plaintiff holds Inland Dredging Co. LLC and Hunter Marine Group LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to exercise reasonable care in discovering and correcting any and all unsafe conditions, and to provide prompt and adequate medical care, treatment, maintenance and cure.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation in an amount to be determined by the trier of fact, interest, maintenance and cure benefits, attorney’s fees, costs and all other relief as justice may provide. He is represented by Lawrence Blake Jones and David C. Whitmore of Blake Jones Law Firm LLC in New Orleans.
