Walmart shopper alleges leak from broken cooler caused fall

Slip01

NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman alleges she was injured while shopping at a Walmart store.

Anna Polk filed a complaint on March 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Wal-Mart Louisiana LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 14, 2016, she was a patron at defendant's Wal-Mart store in Harahan when she slipped and fell in water that had leaked from a broken freezer. She alleges sustained severe and disabling injuries to her knees, back and other parts of her body. The plaintiff holds Wal-Mart Louisiana LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to warn of the dangerous condition and failed to maintain the property.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant, damages that are reasonable in the premises, interest, costs of these proceedings and all general and equitable relief. She is represented by Jack E. Truitt, Pamela S. Chehardy Croft, Amber L. Mitchell and Peter M. Gahagan of The Truitt Law Firm in Covington.
