LLOG Exploration Co. alleges defective target elbows caused millions in damages

Contract 08

NEW ORLEANS – A St. Tammany Parish oil and gas exploration company alleges it incurred damages of more than $5 million because of defective pipe elbows.

LLOG Exploration Co. LLC filed a complaint on March 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Federal Flange Inc. alleging breach of express and applied warranties, breach of contract and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 15, 2014, it purchased goods from defendant, which included four target elbows. After installation, the plaintiff alleges it discovered non-apparent manufacturing defects that caused cracks in multiple pieces of that product. As a result of the defective target elbows, the plaintiff alleges it incurred substantial losses and damages estimated in excess of $5 million. The plaintiff holds Federal Flange Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to adequately repair and remediate the target elbows to make them useful for plaintiff's intended purpose.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order determining that this complaint be deemed good and sufficient, award for damages, attorney’s fees, as well as all other equitable and legal relief. It is represented by Carl D. Rosenblum, Alida C. Hainkel and Tyler Rench of Jones Walker LLP in New Orleans.
