NEW ORLEANS – A seaman alleges he injured his left knee in an accident while working.

Christopher Brown filed a complaint on March 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against American River Transportation Co. LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in September 2016 he was employed by defendant as a Jones Act Seaman aboard the M/V Louisiana Belle when he experienced an accident that resulted in serious painful injuries, medical expenses and lost wages. The plaintiff holds American River Transportation Co. LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to take any means or precautions for the safety of its employees and failed to provide adequate equipment and personnel for the job.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, award for adequate maintenance and cure benefits, costs and expenses and all other general and equitable relief. He is represented by Timothy J. Young, Tammy D. Harris and Megan C. Misko of The Young Law Firm in New Orleans.
