Medical malpractice 09

SHREVEPORT – A Bossier Parish couple alleges their claim against a federal agency was denied.

Devonna Blair and Michael Blair filed a complaint on May 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Shreveport Division against United States of America, Department of Veterans Affairs and Overton Brooks VA Medical Center alleging that they failed to comply with the Federal Tort Claims Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they timely filed and served notice of their claim for damages sustained by plaintiff Devonna Blair due to the alleged negligence and professional malpractice of the employees of the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center. The suit states the Department of Veterans Affairs denied their claim in November 2016.

Devonna Blair alleges that the defendants breached the standard of care multiple times with the treatment of her chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against each of the defendants for damages reasonable in the premises, with legal interest, all costs of these proceedings and all other general and equitable relief. They are represented by Jack M. Bailey Jr. and Jack M. Bailey III of The Law Offices Jack M. Bailey Jr. in Shreveport.
