Former Modern Finance Co. of Bogalusa employee alleges she was falsely accused of theft

Wrongful term 04

NEW ORLEANS – A St. Tammany Parish woman alleges that she was suspended and eventually terminated from her job because of false charges made against her.

Patricia M. Bailey filed a complaint on May 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Bogalusa Police Officer Lt. Patrick Lyons, Modern Finance Co. of Bogalusa, Olin Berthelot and Linda Knight alleging that they violated the Sixth and 14th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff worked for Modern Finance as a clerk and loan officer. She alleges the managers "decided to get rid of her" in 2015 by falsely accusing her of theft. The plaintiff holds Lyons, Modern Finance Co. of Bogalusa, Berthelot and Knight responsible because she alleges she was slandered by the false charges.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount reasonable in the premises, attorney's fees and costs and all other lawful and equitable relief. She is represented by R. Bradley Lewis of R. Bradley Lewis Attorney At Law in Bogalusa.
