NEW ORLEANS – A Jones Act seaman alleges he sustained injuries to his shoulder because of his employer's failure to provide a safe place to work.

Robert Trahan filed a complaint on May 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Couvillion Group LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 22, 2016, he was working aboard defendant's C/B Big D when he sustained painful and enduring injuries. The plaintiff holds Couvillion Group LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently failed to provide a safe work environment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to recover damages in the sum of $3 million, plus legal interest, maintenance and cure in the sum of $100,000 and all other appropriate and general relief. He is represented by C. Arlen Braud II, Michelle O. Gallagher and Steven D. Jackson of Braud & Gallagher LLC in Mandeville.
