LAFAYETTE – An Evangeline Parish man alleges that he is totally disabled because of the negligence of an energy company.

Justin LeJuene filed a complaint on May 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Lafayette Division against Hilcorp Energy Co. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 20, 2016, he was employed by Quality Process Services and was severely injured while performing work at defendant's facilities in White Lake. The suit states he was operating a 25-foot skiff with twin outboard motors named Miss Alice and the vessel collided with a dock, causing a board to go through the window and strike the plaintiff's hand and wrist. Plaintiff alleges he suffered great pain and agony, mental anguish, loss wages and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds Hilcorp Energy Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly ordered him to operate the Miss Alice without providing proper training on how to operate it.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in the amount of $2 million, with legal interest, costs of these proceedings, witness fees and expenses and all other general and equitable relief. He is represented by James P. Ryan and Kathleen E. Ryan of Morrow Morrow Ryan, Bassett & Haik in Opelousas and Charles Stanislaus “Stan” Feucht of Charles Stanislaus Feucht, Attorney at Law in Eunice.
