Waste Connections of Louisiana, Progressive Waste Solutions of LA alleged to have violated wage laws

NEW ORLEANS – Former employees for a waste collection company have filed a class-action lawsuit over allegations that they were not paid or paid an erroneous rate for certain hours worked.

Celestine Lejeaun and Jerry Monroe filed a complaint on behalf of individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint on June 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Waste Connections of Louisiana Inc. and Progressive Waste Solutions of LA Inc. alleging that they intentionally violated the Fair Labor Standards Act and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that as a result of defendants' fraudulent reduction in the record of hours worked, they were denied compensation for overtime hours. The plaintiffs hold Waste Connections of Louisiana Inc. and Progressive Waste Solutions of LA Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly retaliated against them and terminated their employment after complaining of such unlawful practices.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek award for damages, liquidated damages, attorneys’ fees, costs, penalties and interest and all other legal and/or equitable relief to which they may be entitled.
