Three former employees allege Coastal Industries failed to pay overtime wages

BATON ROUGE – An East Baton Rouge Parish company is alleged to have failed to pay overtime to three former workers.

Jorge Cojon Alvarado, Leonel Morales and Melvin Carranza filed a complaint on June 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against Coastal Industries LLC alleging that the contractor willfully violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs were employed by the defendant as construction workers and their employment ended in 2017. The plaintiffs holds Coastal Industries LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay additional wages at the rate of one-and-one-half times their regular rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek to recover their unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, plus legal interest, costs, attorney fees and such equitable relief as may be appropriate. They are represented by Daniel B. Davis and Randall E. Estes of Estes Davis Law LLC in Baton Rouge.
