SHREVEPORT – A Bossier Parish couple is seeking damages from the federal government after the wife was injured while visiting an U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-operated park.

Patricia Greer and Charles Greer filed a complaint on June 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Shreveport Division against United States of America alleging that the government failed to honor plaintiff's within the requisite period of time.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Feb. 27, 2016, plaintiff Patricia Greer was a guest at Tom Merrill Recreation Area at Bayou Bodcau Dam and Reservoir when she was injured when she tripped over an anchor used to secure picnic tables. The suit states she fractured both arms. They allege they submitted a claim pursuant to the Federal Tort Claims Act on Nov. 9, 2016, but that the defendant failed to render a decision in May.

The plaintiffs holds United States of America responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to adequately warn patrons and visitors of the dangers associated with the anchor.

The plaintiffs seek judgment for all harms and losses allegedly caused by the defendant, expert fees, cost and interest. They are represented by G. Adam Savoie of Morris, Dewett & Savoie LLC in Shreveport.
