Taylor, Porter, Brooks & Phillips LLP issued the following announcement on Sept. 16.

Taylor Porter Partner Mike Crawford has been ranked the 2021 Best Lawyers in America "Lawyer of the Year" in Baton Rouge in the practice area of Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law. "Lawyer of the Year" honors are awarded to individual attorneys with the highest overall peer attorney feedback for a specific practice area and geographic location. Only one attorney is recognized as the “Lawyer of the Year” for each specialty and location.

The 27th annual Best Lawyers publication is an annual list compiled since 1983 and universally regarded as the definitive guide to legal excellence in which rankings are based on a peer-review survey in which more than 50,000 leading attorneys cast nearly five million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their practice areas.

Since 1994, Crawford has practiced in bankruptcy-related litigation, representation of corporate debtors, creditors’ committees, bankruptcy trustees and corporate creditors and banks, for clients across a wide scope of industries, including oil and gas, environmental/energy, manufacturing, health care, gaming, and media and entertainment companies. Crawford serves as chair of Taylor Porter’s Business Transactions, Bankruptcy and Real Estate practice. He is also ranked by Chambers USA in Bankruptcy Law.

In addition to representing clients in Louisiana, Crawford has appeared in bankruptcy courts in New York, Ohio, Texas and Mississippi. He is admitted to practice in all federal courts, including bankruptcy courts, in Louisiana, U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and United States Supreme Court. He is a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy-related topics.
