Taylor, Porter, Brooks & Phillips LLP issued the following announcement on Dec. 10.

Taylor Porter delivered holiday gifts to 70 children of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Information Center of Louisiana, one of the agencies served through the 29th annual Baton Rouge Bar Foundation’s Young Lawyers Section Holiday Star Project. The annual project provides gifts to children in the local Baton Rouge area in a partnership with Volunteers of America Special Services and through several children and education agencies.

This year's collection was led by Taylor Porter attorney Caroline Darwin and administrative and recruiting coordinator Martha Singletary.

The Baton Rouge Bar Foundation, a tax-exempt as a charitable organization by the Internal Revenue Service under section 501(C)(3) of the IRS Code, is the non-profit arm of the BRBA, which is a voluntary, professional organization of local lawyers and judges that is in its 89th year of service to the community.

The Holiday Star Project makes the holiday season a little brighter by providing Christmas gifts to underprivileged children in our area. Festively wrapped presents, including clothes, bicycles, books and toys, are delivered to local agencies and distributed to the over 800 children they serve. Agencies served by the Holiday Star Project include Children’s Hospital, Family Services of Greater Baton Rouge, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, HAART, Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired, Gulf Coast Social Services, Baton Rouge Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation, St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Gerard’s, Volunteers of America-Special Services, and YWCA Early Head Start.

Since Taylor Porter's founding in 1912 when co-founder B.B. Taylor helped launch Baton Rouge's first YMCA, Taylor Porter has embraced the role of “corporate citizen” and continued for 108 years a strong tradition of both pro bono and community service throughout our City, supporting more than 100 community and nonprofit organizations.
