Taylor, Porter, Brooks & Phillips LLP issued the following announcement on Jan. 5.

Taylor Porter has elected Ashley Carver Meredith to Partner, effective January 1, 2021. Meredith, who joined Taylor Porter in 2014, practices in a wide array of areas including commercial litigation, commercial transactions, health care compliance, estate planning, and successions. She is ranked by her peers among the 2021 Best Lawyers in America® "Ones to Watch" in Commercial Litigation.

In her commercial practice, Meredith represents both commercial banks and private lenders in loan workouts and litigation, including foreclosures and lender liability suits. She represents closely-held corporations and limited liability companies in connection with general business disputes. Her experience includes representing a real estate developer in state court action spanning several years against an out-of-state banking institution regarding lender liability issues. Recently, Meredith was involved in a three-week arbitration trial representing a mortgagor in an malpractice suit arising out of a lapsed mortgage. Meredith's transactional work includes drafting business and real estate documents, corporate governance agreements, asset purchase agreements, loan and security documents, UCC documents, and master service agreements, among others. In her healthcare compliance practice, Meredith represents local hospitals with licensing matters at the state and federal levels. Her experience includes facilitating the licensure of hospital service lines and practice locations as well as advising hospitals as to other issues involving state and federal licensure.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Meredith has co-authored several articles on the developments of the SBA loan programs and the CARES Act within the Taylor Porter Coronavirus - Legal News and Business Resources blog section.

Meredith graduated cum laude in 2014 from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where she served as senior editor of the Louisiana Law Review and as copy editor and contributing news writer for The Civilian. Meredith graduated magna cum laude in 2011 from Louisiana State University, where she received her bachelor of arts in Mass Communication and minored in Political Science. She was also a member of LSU Honors College.

In the community, Meredith is an active member of the Baton Rouge Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, Louisiana Hospital Association, and the American Bar Association. Meredith is a board member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - Louisiana Chapter; member of the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center Gala Fundraiser Committee; and a volunteer in community fundraising drives through the Baton Rouge Bar Association, such as the Holiday Star Project.
