NEW ORLEANS - The Illinois Central Railroad Company is charged with negligence resulting in injuries in New Orleans federal court.

According to documents filed on March 23, plaintiff Jacque A. Forbes of Marrero is a conductor for the Norfolk Southern Railroad Company and plaintiff Terrence Douglas is an engineer for the same company. The two were at the defendant's Mays Yard in Jefferson Parish on March 26, 2020.

The lawsuit says that the plaintiffs were following instruction of the yardmaster and were waiting in their engine on a track when their engine car was struck by a railcar that had been rolled from a crew of the defendant onto the track. The plaintiffs were injured in the collision requiring time off of work and surgical operation, the suit says.

Each plaintiff seeks at least $100,000 for their injuries. They are represented by Wettermark Keith LLC of Birmingham.
