Taylor, Porter, Brooks & Phillips LLP issued the following announcement on May 11.

Taylor Porter welcomes seven law students for the first round of the 2021 Summer Law Clerk Program in which under the guidance of practicing Taylor Porter attorneys and mentors, law clerks gain hands-on experience and interaction that reflect real life as a lawyer. The work ranges from case research to legal writing to shadowing attorneys at depositions, hearings, and oral arguments, and speaking with both Taylor Porter partners and associates one-on-one and learning about their personal experiences.

The first round of Taylor Porter's 2021 summer law clerks include Allie Amedee, Cameron Murray, Dylan Scully and Marina Speligene from LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center; Eboni Clay and Jaina Green from Southern University Law Center; and Chandler Sessums from Mississippi College School of Law.

Allie Amedee, LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center

Allie Amedee is entering her third year at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where she is the vice president of External Appellate Advocacy Competitions. She was a national finalist on LSU’s Moot Court Team for the Saul Lefkowitz Competition. She was also awarded fourth best brief in the Robert Lee Tullis Moot Court Competition. She was recognized as a Herbert Scholar in Fall 2019 and a Dean Scholar in Fall 2020. Allie graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama with a B.A. in Economics and Dance. During the summer of 2020, Allie clerked for the Office of the District Attorney Ricky Babin in Gonzales. Allie will be mentored by Taylor Porter attorneys Adam Thames and Caroline Darwin.

Eboni Clay, Southern University Law Center

Eboni Clay is a rising 3L at Southern University Law Center in the evening program. She has been appointed to serve as Student Bar Association evening division representative for the upcoming academic year. Eboni is also a LexisNexis Student Ambassador. She has received various legal research certifications from LexisNexis and Westlaw. Eboni has an interest in corporate and business law. She earned a B.S. in Social Work from Southern University, where she graduated with honors. Eboni will be mentored by Taylor Porter attorneys Katia Bowman and John Milazzo.

Jaina Green, Southern University Law Center

Jaina Green is entering her third year at Southern University Law Center, where she is the senior articles editor for Southern University Law Review. Her article, “Abortion Regulations: An Avenue for Abolishing Abortion?” is forthcoming publication in the Southern University Law Review. She also serves on Southern University’s Board of Student Advisors as a teacher’s assistant. She has received the CALI Excellence Awards for highest grade in Legal Writing II and has received Dean’s List Honors every semester while in law school. Jaina graduated summa cum laude from Southeastern Louisiana University with a B.A. in English, with a concentration in creative writing, and a minor in political science. Jaina has also clerked for Southeast Louisiana Legal Services. Jaina will be mentored by Taylor Porter attorneys Robin Toups and Savannah Smith.

Cameron Murray, LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center

Cameron Murray is entering his third year at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center where he competed in the Tullis Moot Court Competition and is a member of LSU’s Public Interest Law Society. He was selected to receive the Judge Alvin B. Rubin Scholarship and the Dean’s Tuition Scholarship. Cameron obtained his bachelor of political science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, with a minor in business. He has clerked for the legal department of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, and Murray & Murray, LLC. He has also served as a page for the Louisiana House of Representatives. Cameron will be mentored by Taylor Porter attorneys Barrye Miyagi and Will Patrick.

Dylan Scully, LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center

Dylan Scully is entering his third year at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center where he currently serves as executive vice president of LSU’s Student Bar Association. He also serves as academic tutor for Professor Marlene Krousel’s legal research and writing class. Dylan received his B.S. in accounting from Louisiana State University where he was a founding father of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Dylan has clerked for Keogh, Cox & Wilson, and will be clerking for Taylor, Wellons, Politz & Duhe later this summer. Dylan will be mentored by Taylor Porter attorneys Trey Tumminello and Coulter McMahen.

Chandler Sessums, Mississippi College School of Law

Chandler Sessums is entering his third year at Mississippi College School of Law, where he is the executive editor for the Mississippi College Law Review. He was recently selected for publication in Volume 40 of the Law Review. Additionally, he is a member of the Mississippi College Moot Court Board, where he was a member of the American Association of Justice trial competition team. Chandler is a dean’s ambassador for the admissions office at Mississippi College. He received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Mississippi State University. Chandler will be mentored by Taylor Porter attorneys Ryan French and Michael Grace.

Marina Speligene, LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center

Marina Speligene is entering her third year at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where she is a senior associate for the Louisiana Law Review. She has received the CALI Excellence Award for the highest grade in Louisiana Civil Procedure I and Income Taxation. Marina has served as a research assistant to Professor Christina M. Sautter since her 1L summer. During the spring 2021 semester, she was a judicial extern for Chief Judge Dick at the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Louisiana. Marina graduated summa cum laude from LSU with a B.A. in criminology. Marina will be mentored by Taylor Porter attorneys Amy Lambert and Lauren Hadden.
