Louisiana Governor's Office issued the following announcement on June 18.
Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions.
Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board
The Children’s Cabinet serves as the governing body for the State of Louisiana responsible for coordinating funding and programmatic services at the state and local level, related to children and their families. It consists of the cabinet secretary of each state department and is chaired by the executive director of the Children’s Cabinet, who is appointed by the governor. The Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board provides information and recommendations from the perspective of advocacy groups, service providers and parents.
Angela R. Wiggins Harris of New Orleans has been appointed to the Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. Ms. Harris is a senior market development professional with Humana, Inc. She will represent the National Association of Social Workers.
Board of Louisiana River Pilot Review and Oversight
The Board of Louisiana River Pilot Review and Oversight provides oversight of pilots for the Associated Branch Pilots for the Port of New Orleans, the River Port Pilots for the Port of New Orleans, the New Orleans Baton Rouge Steamship Pilots Association, and the Associated Branch Pilots of the Port of Lake Charles.
Capt. Charles R. Gilchrist III of Lake Charles has been appointed to the Board of Louisiana River Pilot Review and Oversight. Capt. Gilchrist is a pilot with the Lake Charles Pilots. He is also a member of the Board of River Port Pilot Commissioners and Examiners for the Calcasieu Waterway.
Jennifer L. Marusak of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Board of Louisiana River Pilot Review and Oversight. Ms. Marusak is the executive director of the Louisiana Ports Association. She will represent the Louisiana Ports Association.
James E. Patterson of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Board of Louisiana River Pilot Review and Oversight. Mr. Patterson is the vice president of governmental relations for the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry. He will represent the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry.
Cornelius E. Regan of Metairie has been appointed to the Board of Louisiana River Pilot Review and Oversight. Judge Regan is retired from the 24th Judicial District Court and will serve as a former Louisiana district court judge.
Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Criminal Justice
The Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Criminal Justice serves to improve the operations of the criminal justice and juvenile justice system and promote public safety by providing progressive leadership and coordination within the criminal justice community.
Genoria D. Tilley of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Criminal Justice. Chief Tilley is the chief of police at Baton Rouge Community College. She will serve at-large.
Wydette L. Williams of Lake Providence has been appointed to the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Criminal Justice. Sheriff Williams is the sheriff of East Carroll Parish. He will serve as an at-large representative.
Louisiana Sentencing Commission
The Louisiana Sentencing Commission assists the judiciary and the legislature in formulating such policy. The Commission shall conduct an annual review of the State's Sentencing structure based upon existing criminal law and law relative to criminal procedure.
Sam C. D’Aquilla of St. Francisville has been appointed to the Louisiana Sentencing Commission. Mr. D’Aquilla is district attorney in East and West Feliciana Parishes. He will serve as a district attorney.
Shannon B. Dirmann of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Louisiana Sentencing Commission. Ms. Dirmann is counsel and legislative liaison for the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association. She will serve as the designee of the president of the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association.
Richard C. Nevils of Winnfield has been appointed to the Louisiana Sentencing Commission. Mr. Nevils is the district attorney in Winn Parish. He will serve as a district attorney.
Louisiana Development Disabilities Council
The Louisiana Developmental Disability Council’s mission is to lead and promote advocacy, capacity building, and systemic change to improve the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
Cheri A. Crain of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Louisiana Development Disabilities Council. Ms. Crain is a compliance and planning manager with the Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs. She will serve as the representative of the Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs.
Louisiana Executive Board on Aging
The Louisiana Executive Board on Aging (LEBA) is an organized board that consists of appointed members from the Governor and the Louisiana Legislature. The LEBA board functions as an entity to advise, report and recommend matters of relevance to the elderly of Louisiana. The LEBA board member appointments and duties are outlined in the GOEA Policy and Procedures Manual in subchapter A, §1103.
Stephen E. Pugh of Ponchatoula has been appointed to the Louisiana Executive Board on Aging. Mr. Pugh is a former member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. He will represent the 1st Public Service Commission District.
Ricco A. Thomas of Addis has been reappointed to the Louisiana Executive Board on Aging. Mr. Thomas is a district manager for the United States government. He will represent the 2nd Public Service Commission District.
Emily G. Tilley of Baton Rouge has been reappointed to the Louisiana Executive Board on Aging. Mr. Tilley is clinical director for O’Brien House. She will represent the 3rd Public Service Commission District.
