TAYLOR PORTER BROOKS PHILLIPS LLP: Taylor Porter Welcomes Second Session Summer Law Clerks

Taylor, Porter, Brooks & Phillips LLP issued the following announcement on July 8.

Taylor Porter welcomes eight law students to the second session of its 2021 Summer Law Clerk Program. During the program, law clerks gain hands-on experience through interaction with practicing Taylor Porter attorneys. Work experiences include client meetings, case assessment, drafting pleadings and research memoranda, and shadowing attorneys at depositions and hearings. Law clerks participate in one-on-one exchanges with Taylor Porter partners and associates and attend firm networking events and receptions.

Madison Gaines, a Dean’s Scholar at LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, is entering her second year of law school. Gaines is a member of the Public Interest Legal Society and National Black Law Student Association. She also serves on the Student Bar Association Academics Committee. During the school year, Gaines will serve as an academic tutor for criminal law and administration of criminal justice. She graduated summa cum laude and as a University Medalist from LSU with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Gaines will be mentored by Taylor Porter attorneys Skip Philips and Savannah Smith.

Evan Gaudet is entering his second year at LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. Prior to law school, Gaudet earned a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety, Heath, and Environmental Studies from Southeastern Louisiana University. While studying at Southeastern, Gaudet worked at Excel Contractors, LLC in its construction and plant maintenance divisions. Following graduation, Gaudet worked in Washington, D.C. for Turner Construction. While at Turner, he assisted in the management of the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) efforts at the White Oak Medical Campus and Ronald Regan National Airport Expansion projects. Gaudet will be mentored by Taylor Porter attorneys John Andrishok and Leah Cook.

Catherine Gauthier is entering her second year at LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where she is a Dean’s Scholar and aspires to become a member of LSU’s moot court team this upcoming semester. An LSU graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Gauthier is pursuing a CPA license. Recently, Gauthier volunteered for South Louisiana Legal Services as an intern in the One-Stop Homeless Services Center, aiding the homeless with benefit applications, appeals, and other legal matters. Gauthier will be mentored by Taylor Porter attorneys Ashley Meredith and Jonathan Moore.

Patrick Judd is entering his third year at Emory University School of Law, where he is the executive managing editor of the Emory Law Journal. Judd graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Catholic University of America. He was a recipient of the Basselin Scholarship for advanced studies in philosophy and rhetoric. Following graduation, Judd will clerk for the Honorable Chief Judge Emily C. Marks in the U.S. Middle District of Alabama and for the Honorable Judge S. Kyle Duncan on the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Judd will be mentored by Taylor Porter attorneys Tom Easterly and Coulter McMahen.

Madison Landry is entering her second year at LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where she is a Dean’s Scholar. Landry received the Judge Alvin B. Rubin Scholarship Award and is a member of the Christian Legal Society and Public Interest Law Society. Landry graduated from LSU as a University Medalist, summa cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in rhetoric, writing, and culture, and a minor in political science. Landry served as vice president of Chi Omega Sorority. Landry will be mentored by Taylor Porter attorneys Amy Groves Lowe and Colin Peak.

Lawson Nguyen is entering his third year at the University of Houston Law Center. Nguyen is the president of the Space Law Society, vice president of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, and secretary of the Federalist Society. Nguyen received the highest grade in advanced writing topics and the CALI Excellence Award in legal research. Nguyen was awarded Best Moot Court Team in his first year. He received his Bachelor of Arts from LSU in Political Science. Nguyen will be mentored by Taylor Porter attorneys Blue Loupe and Will Patrick.

Katherine Roberts is entering her second year at LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where she has received the CALI Excellence Award for the highest grade in legal research and writing. She was on the Dean’s List in fall 2020. She has obtained her LexisNexis Proficiency Certification. Roberts graduated cum laude from LSU with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication, concentrating in public relations and minoring in business administration. Roberts will be mentored by Taylor Porter attorneys Mike Walsh and Barrye Miyagi.

Harper Street is entering his third year at LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he is serving as a senior associate and development editor for the Louisiana Law Review. He has received a CALI Excellence Award for highest grade in Louisiana Civil Procedure I. Street worked as a tutor for legal research and writing: appellate advocacy. Street graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from LSU in Political Communications. Street will be mentored by Taylor Porter attorneys John Parker and Justin Mannino.
