Taylor, Porter, Brooks & Phillips LLP issued the following announcement on Aug. 20.

Taylor Porter employment, labor and benefits practice attorneys Vicki Crochet and Tom Peak conducted their annual “New Library Directors Boot Camp” presentation for the State Library of Louisiana, held virtually on August 12, 2021. Crochet spoke on issues pertaining to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); Managing Managers; and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), while Peak delivered a Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) primer for state employers.

In 1920, the Louisiana Legislature created the Louisiana Library Commission, a forerunner of the State Library of Louisiana. In 1925, the Commission joined with Carnegie Corporation to create a network of libraries across the state, and today, Louisiana boasts public libraries in each of its 64 parishes and provides access to more than 11 million items through its collection and electronic resources combined with a statewide online lending network of public libraries.
