Lawsuit: Dangerous Skechers severed man's Achilles tendon

Federal Court
Courtgavel333

NEW ORLEANS - Samuel A. William filed a federal complaint on October 5 in the Eastern District of Louisiana against Skechers USA, Inc. for personal injury and negligence.

According to the complaint, William purchased a pair of Skechers Model SN50125 BRTP shoe, size 13, at an Academy Sports & Outdoor store in Covington on July 14, 2020. On Dec. 23, 2020, William was going up a ladder while wearing his Skechers when a sharp piece of plastic in the heel of the right shoe protruded through the inside of the heel and severed William's right Achilles tendon, the suit says.

William alleges his injury was the direct result of Skechers shoes being defective and unreasonably dangerous in design, construction or composition, because inadequate warnings about the product had not been provided, and/or because the shoe did not conform to an express warranty of the manufacturer about the fitness of product.

William is represented by Irving J. Warshauer.
