Gov. Edwards Announces Boards and Commissions Appointments as of December 3, 2021

Louisiana Governor's Office issued the following announcement on Dec. 3.

Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions.  

Louisiana State Board of Private Investigator Examiners

The Louisiana State Board of Private Investigator Examiners licenses private investigators and businesses in the state of Louisiana in order to contribute to the safety, health, and welfare of the people of Louisiana.

Maria V. Landry of Lacombe has been appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Private Investigator Examiners. Landry is the managing director of Investigation Research Group LLC. She will represent the 1st Public Service Commission District. 

Louisiana Rehabilitation Council

The Louisiana Rehabilitation Council listens to the concerns of those with disability issues, reviews, analyzes and evaluates the state rehabilitation program, collaborates with other state agencies, organizations and consumer groups.

Megan N. Thompson of Prairieville has been appointed to the Louisiana Rehabilitation Council. Thompson is a program manager for the Louisiana Department of Education. She will serve as a representative of the state educational agency responsible for the public education of students with disabilities.

Oilfield Site Restoration Commission

The Louisiana Oilfield Site Restoration Program was created in 1993 within the Department of Natural Resources to address the growing problem of unrestored orphaned oilfield sites across the State. Orphan wells are abandoned oil and gas wells for which no viable responsible party can be located, or such party has failed to maintain the wellsite in accordance with State rules and regulations. The specific focus of the Oilfield Site Restoration Program is to properly plug and abandon orphan wells and to restore sites to approximate pre-wellsite conditions suitable for redevelopment.

Lauren E. Chauvin of Lafayette has been appointed to the Oilfield Site Restoration Commission. Chauvin is the director of the judicial program and a member of the lobbying team for the Louisiana Association of Business Industry. She will represent Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association.

Elisabeth A. Creasman of Baton Rouge has been reappointed to the Oilfield Site Restoration Commission. Creasman is associate staff director at the Nature Conservancy. She will represent the Nature Conservancy.

Lori E. LeBlanc of Thibodaux has been appointed to the Oilfield Site Restoration Commission. LeBlanc is the vice president of Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association. She will represent Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association.

David B. Levy of New Iberia has been appointed to the Oilfield Site Restoration Commission. Levy is the president of Petrotechnologies Inc. He will serve at-large.

Steven R. Maley of Mandeville has been reappointed to the Oilfield Site Restoration Commission. Maley is the manager of operations at Badger Oil Corporation. He will represent the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association (formerly LIOGA).

Barry R. Salsbury of Covington has been appointed to the Oilfield Site Restoration Commission. Salsbury is the CEO of Krewe Energy LLC. He will represent the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association.

State Board of Architectural Examiners

The Board is responsible for granting licenses and regulating the practice of Architecture in the State of Louisiana.

John E. Cardone Jr. of Lake Charles has been reappointed to the State Board of Architectural Examiners. Cardone is the city administrator for Lake Charles. He will serve as a citizen of the United States who is not actively engaged in or retired from the professions of architecture, engineering, interior design, or landscape architecture, or the occupation of a contractor, or the design or construction of buildings.

Board of River Pilot Commissioners and Examiners (Calcasieu)

The Board of River Port Pilot Commissioners and Examiners (Calcasieu) serves to establish rules and regulations for the purpose of regulating pilots, pilot associations, masters, and owners of vessels on the navigable waters of the state of Louisiana.

Walter Dwayne Chatoney of Lake Charles has been appointed to the Board of River Pilot Commissioners and Examiners (Calcasieu). Chatoney is an intelligence agent for Informa LTD. He will serve as a businessman.

John K. Kelly Grand Bayou Reservoir District

The John K. Kelly Grand Bayou Reservoir District’s mission is to provide raw water for the use of rural and municipal water systems in Red River Parish and adjacent areas and to provide water recreational opportunities for the public.

Rebecca Hicks Craig of Ringgold has been appointed to the John K. Kelly Grand Bayou Reservoir District. Craig is the former assessor for Red River Parish. She will serve at-large.

Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners

The Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners is responsible for the regulation of Provisional Licensed Professional Counselors or PLPCs (formerly Counselor Interns), Provisional Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists or PLMFTs (formerly MFT Interns), Licensed Professional Counselors or LPCs, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists or LMFTs.

Foley L. Nash of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners. Foley is the director of clinical services for behavioral health for Aetna Better Health of Louisiana. He will serve as a licensed marriage and family therapist.  

Jimmy D. Long, Sr. Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts

The Jimmy D. Long, Sr. Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts will provide leadership in offering a world class education to Louisiana’s high-achieving, highly-motivated students.

Dr. William B. Luster of Natchitoches has been appointed to the Jimmy D. Long, Sr. Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. Dr. Luster is medical director for Cane River Family Medicine APMC. He will serve at-large.

Louisiana Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Advisory Council (LaSTEM)

Act 392 of the 2017 Legislative Session created the LaSTEM Advisory Council to oversee the creation and delivery of STEM programs in Louisiana.

Dr. Lindsey B. Keith-Vincent of Ruston has been appointed to the Louisiana Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Advisory Council (LaSTEM). Dr. Vincent is the associate dean for research, outreach and innovation, and the director of the science and technology education center at Louisiana Tech University. She will serve at-large.

Atchafalaya Basin Levee District

The Atchafalaya Basin Levee District maintains some 320 miles of main-line levees protecting all or portions of eight parishes in south-central Louisiana.

Tommy A. Thibodeaux of St. Martinville has been appointed to the Atchafalaya Basin Levee District. Thibodeaux is in government and public relations for Pelican Waste and Debris. He will represent St. Martin Parish.

Louisiana Military Advisory Council

The Military Advisory Council serves to provide a forum for issues concerning the installations and units of the armed forces located in Louisiana and the military and retired military personnel and their families who reside in Louisiana.

John E. Manion III of Mandeville has been appointed to the Louisiana Military Advisory Council. Manion is the chair of the Louisiana Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. He will serve as the chair of the Louisiana Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
