NEW ORLEANS - Cynthia Marsh, as administrator for the estate of Harry F. Marsh, filed a federal lawsuit on Nov. 25 in the Eastern District of Louisiana against the Continental Insurance Company, individually and as successor in interest to the Marine Office of America Corporation.
According to the complaint, Henry F. Marsh served aboard various merchant marine vessels between 1946 and 1986 that sailed in and out of ports in Louisiana. March was diagnosed with mesothelioma and died on Aug. 13, 2019, due to his exposure while assigned to the engine room, the suit says.
Lykes Bros. Steamship Company filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding in 1995 and is no longer in existence, but the Marine Office of America Corporation provided coverage for Lykes Bros. Steamship Co. vessels in the 1960s and 1970 as succeeding The Continental Insurance Company.
Cynthia Marsh seeks a judgment in an amount reasonable, interest and cost of suit. Marsh is represented by Meredith K. Clark of Motley Rice LLP in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
