McGuireWoods partner Kristen McDermott Woodrum has been appointed chair of the American Health Law Association’s 2024 Physicians and Hospitals Law Institute, an education program focused on the legal, regulatory, transactional and compliance challenges faced by physician organizations, hospitals and health systems. The program will take place Feb. 5-7, 2024 in New Orleans.
The American Health Law Association (AHLA) is the nation’s largest nonpartisan, nonprofit educational organization devoted to legal issues in the health field. AHLA’s Physicians and Hospitals Law Institute provides education and networking opportunities for in-house and outside counsel, compliance officers, privacy officers, reimbursement specialists, accountants, consultants, and others who advise physician organizations, hospitals and health systems.
Woodrum has served in a number of AHLA leadership roles, including chair of the 2023 Physicians and Hospitals Law Institute and co-chair of the 2022 program. She also is a frequent speaker at AHLA programs, including the June 2023 annual meeting in San Francisco and April 2023 healthcare transactions program in Nashville.
Based in Atlanta, Woodrum is an accomplished lawyer and strategic adviser with more than 17 years of experience representing healthcare providers and investors. She advises health systems and providers on strategic affiliations, physician alignment strategies, and innovative healthcare delivery and payment models, as well as on operational and compliance matters.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to chair this program once again in 2024,” Woodrum said. “We look forward to presenting informative discussions about the legal and regulatory challenges healthcare providers face in today’s market. And stay tuned for an AHLA announcement about some exciting changes to the program format.”
