NEW ORLEANS — A man is suing Buras Oilfield Services alleging injuries that occurred on a vessel.

Kevin Tippet was injured during an incident on Nov. 1, 2023, while on the M/V Daryl B, according to a complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

Buras owned and operated the M/V Daryl B, which was transporting Tippet to a platform for a crew change, according to the suit.

While navigating Baptiste Collette Bayou in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, the M/V Daryl B, and its occupants, including Tippet, encountered large waves that resulted in Tippet falling and sustaining severe injuries, including a broken leg.

Tippet claims due to Buras' negligence, including failure to provide an adequately trained crew, Tippet was placed in a dangerous position aboard the vessel, and was injured.

As a result of the injuries, Tippet has experienced physical disability, substantial physical and mental pain, anguish and embarrassment, according to the suit.

Tippet is seeking damages in the amount of $1 million with interest and other damages deemed appropriate. He is represented by C. Arlen Braud II, Michelle O. Gallagher and Steven D. Jackson of Braud & Gallagher in Mandeville, La.
