The Louisiana Minority Business Development Agency, in partnership with Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, East Baton Rouge City-Parish, and other local partners are hosting a Minority Business Enterprises Vendor Fair on Tuesday, March 12, at the Raising Canes River Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event will allow minority business enterprises (MBE) to exhibit their goods and services to the City-Parish and significant companies operating in Baton Rouge. Additionally, small businesses owned by minorities, women, and veterans can get certified with the Office of Supplier Diversity for City-Parish contracts and procurement opportunities. The event will also provide an excellent opportunity for networking with purchasing managers and directors.

During the fair, minority businesses that register can host a vendor table and share information about their company with everyone in attendance from the main stage. In addition, qualified MBEs can participate in a three-minute pitch session with procurement officers and contract managers. Lastly, MBEs will also be able to speak with financial companies, such as SJB Group, b1 Bank, DBE Supportive Services, and TruFund Financial, to identify additional sources of capital.

The vendor fair is part of a more extensive training series in the capital city. The City-Parish Purchasing Department wants to ensure small and local business enterprises thrive. On January 23, the office cohosted a vendor system training session that gave MBEs the tools to register and manage a vendor account to secure government contracts.

Registration is free; however, it is required. The event is open to business owners from a myriad of industries.
