The Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal will hold oral arguments in the David Robinson Courtroom at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center on Monday, Feb. 26, as part of the court’s educational, community, and professional outreach program. Chief Judge John Guidry and Judges Wayne Chutz (’85) and Walter Lanier, III (’93) will preside over the docket of five cases that are scheduled to be argued, with hearings to begin at 9 a.m.

The First Circuit is one of five Louisiana intermediate appellate courts, with its jurisdiction extending over 16 parishes in southeast Louisiana. It is domiciled in Baton Rouge and typically holds hearings at its courthouse downtown.

All first-year LSU Law students are required to observe the arguments as part of their legal writing course instruction, while second- and third-year students may attend in the courtroom if space permits. A livestream viewing of the arguments for LSU Law and LSU undergraduate students will be held in McKernan Auditorium.

Students attending the hearings in the David Robinson Courtroom are reminded to abide by all courtroom protocol, dress respectfully, and strictly adhere to all courtroom rules. Chief Judge Guidry invites the public to attend the hearings, with a special invitation to law, government, criminal justice, and civic classes.
