In the Louisiana Court of Appeal, First Circuit, Hope Holdings, Inc. is embroiled in a lawsuit against Modern American Recycling Services, Inc., case ID 2023 CA 0921 and 2023 CA 0922, with judgment rendered on March 13, 2024. The dispute centers around the ownership of certain portions of immovable property in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana.

Representing Hope Holdings are George J. Nalley Jr., while Gavin H. Guillot and Jacob A. Altmyer represent Modern American Recycling Services. The disputed properties include two sections of land — one is 40 feet wide ("the north 40") and the other is 100 feet wide ("100 ft section"). Both parties claim ownership over these sections which formed part of Menard Road between 1971 and 1990.

Hope Holdings seeks recognition as the owner of both areas and demands that Modern American Recycling Services vacate and surrender possession of the property to them. On the other hand, Modern American Recycling Services seeks judgment declaring it owns the north 40 and 100 ft section and prayed for damages for loss of use of and damage to its property.
