In the case of Jordan Lipner-Riza versus Timothy Aaron Causey, court case ID No. 2024-C-0087 filed in the Court of Appeal, Fourth Circuit, State of Louisiana, a review was sought on the district court's judgment from December 11, 2023. The judgment had denied Causey's motion for a new trial concerning the relocation of their minor child.

The plaintiff's counsel is Shaye R. Lirette and the defendant's counsel is Lee A. Heidingsfelder. The case originated when Lipner-Riza filed a Motion to Relocate Principal Residence of the Minor Child and Request for Expedited Preliminary Hearing. This motion was granted by the district court after a trial held on October 16, 2023. Causey claimed he timely filed his motion for a new trial via facsimile on November 22, 2023.

Causey argues that his motion for a new trial was timely as per Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure article 1974 and Louisiana Revised Statutes 13:850(B). However, the district court summarily denied this motion on December 11, 2023, stating it was untimely.

Lipner-Riza seeks affirmation of the district court's decision denying Causey's request for a new trial. On review, the Court of Appeal granted Causey’s writ but denied the relief sought.
