We are honored to host two remarkable individuals who will be addressing this year’s graduating students. Journalist and author Michelle Miller will deliver the Commencement address at the undergraduate and graduate Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m.
Senior District Judge Ivan L. R. Lemelle will deliver the Commencement address at the College of Law Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 10, at 6 p.m.
Miller is an award-winning journalist and co-host of "CBS Saturday Morning.” Throughout her career, she has been at the forefront of coverage on critical social issues and has earned several prestigious awards.
Judge Lemelle was appointed to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana in 1998. He previously served as a United States Magistrate Judge, becoming the first African American to hold that role in the Louisiana Federal Courts, and only the sixth in the nation.
The university will award honorary degrees to Miller, Lemelle and activist Ronnie Moore, a renowned civil rights leader with a remarkable five-decade career. Moore has played a pivotal role in transforming the criminal justice system in Louisiana.
Loyola’s Commencement ceremonies will be held at the UNO Lakefront Arena. Both commencement events will be live-streamed on the university’s website via the YouTube Channel.
