Ninety-four percent of the graduates in the LSU Law Class of 2023 found employment within 10 months of earning their law degree, according to new employment and salary figures from the American Bar Association. Among them, 92% were employed in positions where bar passage was required, and an additional 7% were employed in positions where a J.D. was an advantage.
“Helping our graduates launch their legal careers is as important as providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in those careers,” said LSU Law Dean Alena Allen. “We are extremely proud of the outcomes being achieved by our Class of 2023 alumni, we congratulate them on their success, and we thank our talented team at the LSU Law Office of Career Services for all they do to help our graduates find employment.”
Most LSU Law Class of 2023 graduates—60%—found employment in private practice, while 15% accepted judicial clerkships, 13% accepted government positions, 7% report working in business/industry, and 5% found public interest employment.
Across all sectors, annual salaries of Class of 2023 alumni ranged from just under $50,000 to upwards of $215,000, with an average starting salary of $86,085. The lion’s share of graduates found work in Louisiana (97), with the next most popular states being Texas (28) and Georgia (9).
Over the past decade, an average of 91.2% of LSU Law graduates have found employment within 10 months of earning their degrees at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center.
